In December Paul and Kathy invited us up to their house for a FEAST, lots of good conversation and a nice tour to the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi.
Our day started out when we met at the Cinedomes in Sacramento for the drive up. The day turned out with blue skies. We headed out with three falcons and four non-falcons. After heading up I-80 to Auburn, we took the way around all the new development. We nearly lost Ray when he was passing a semi when everyone got off the off-ramp. Once back together, we drove up Hwy-49 towards Grass Valley.
We barely missed Paul's road and took then next street. According to our handy Yahoo! map, we could just "go around the block". BIG MISTAKE. Funny thing Paul's road ends at his house and starts where we had to turn all 7 cars around in some grumps driveway. After a few verbal assaults from the grumpy people, we got turned around...went back to Hwy 49 and then on to Paul and Kathy's house. We were promptly greeted with some great Falcon Parking, as you can see from the pictures below.
Upon saying our greetings, Paul and Kathy graciously took us on a tour of their place. Tony, Debbie and Dominic pulled in shortly after we got there as did Bill. It wasn't long until everyone went about setting up a magnificent lunch. Everyone potlucked with the deserts and Paul cooked up some of his famous steak sandwiches. Pat and I sat down an set up the Calendar for the upcoming year (Pat brought these handy calendars).
After Lunch, some headed home, but four cars headed off for one more outing. Paul and Kathy lead us up to Grass Valley and then down Hwy 20 to Bridgeport where the Longest Cover Bridge West of the Mississippi still stands today. We checked out the Bridge and walked across, visited the Vistor Center and watched a Doe with her two fawns. As you can see in the pictures, we really enjoyed our selves! Poor Jessi wore herself out and barely got out of the Car before we left.
Thank you again, Paul and Kathy!
